Trinidad & Tobago defeats Barbados in Pool A

MAYAGUEZ, Puerto Rico, July 18, 2010 – Trinidad & Tobago swept Barbados 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-20) in a Pool A women’s volleyball match of the XXI Central American and Caribbean Games.

Krystle Esdelle and Kelly-Anne Billingy topped the winners with 16 and 15 points respectively and Channon Thompson contributed 12 including 3 aces. Alicia Wood led Barbados with 7 points.

“I am not satisfied with the way we played today with many errors,” Trinidadian coach Francisco Cruz said. “We need to play better against Costa Rica tomorrow if we want to win a medal.”

“This is not the level our team is capable of playing and we need to work hard to be at the level we want,” Esdelle added.
